Her quick footsteps echoed of the stone walls as Lily made her way from the owlery, a thick envelope clutched in her right hand. She had just received a long awaited letter from her parents and was now looking for a good place to read it. Her first thought had been to go to the common room, but she had quickly decided against it. If her parents had fulfilled her wish, there were some things that were very precious to her with the letter. No, she had decided that it would be too risky to go the common room, leaving her to wander the school grounds in search of a private spot.
After making her way throughout most of the school, Lily finally concluded her search on the third floor corridor. Normally, this would be the last place she would thing about going to when in need of alone time, but tonight it had worked out perfectly. The corridor was completely deserted of its normal crowd, giving it a rather lonesome feeling. Lily however ignored it. She had more important things on her mind than to get spooked by a empty hallway.
Walking over to one of the couches, Lily sat down, drawing her legs up to her as she did so. With somewhat shaking fingers, she slowly opened the envelope, as if afraid of what she might see. Looking inside, her face lit up with a smile and she hastily turned the package upside down, causing yellow objects wrapped in paper to fall out and into her hand. Lemon drops.
These were what Lily had been waiting for and she unwrapped the candy in a flash and popped on into her mouth. It had been a few weeks since Lily had gone through her storage of the delicious sour candy and she was making sure to enjoy it slowly as she began to read her parents letter.
