Albus was bored. He didn't want to be at home on such a nice summer day, but stupid him, he'd gotten grounded for screaming at his father the day before. He never usually did that. He didn't know what happened. He supposed he'd just lost his mind for a moment. He had tried to apologize, but his dad wouldn't listen.
The garden, he thought. They told me to work on the garden. Why should he? He hated doing that, but he supposed if he had to... he got up from the couch and walked out to the garden. What was he supposed to be doing with it? His parents hadn't really been that specific. He rolled his eyes, sitting on the ground. "What am I supposed to do?" he said out loud.

Summer. It was the season of beaches, parties, and family cook outs. It most certainly was not meant to be spent indoors, at least in Lily’s opinion. Yet there she was, laying on her stomach on her bed, a rather large book in front of her. Usually, Lily wouldn’t be caught dead in the house during such a beautiful day, however, usually she didn’t have to worry about certain classes. For some unknown reason, her professors had given her a good amount of homework do be done during the break. While most students would wait till later to do such things, Lily decided that earlier was better.
Sighing to herself, she let her eyes glance to the open window above her bed, which she had opened in hopes of encouragement to get her work done faster. Instead it had done the opposite, distracting her with the outside noise and the pleasant breeze that every so often blew in. Not able to take anymore, Lily got up from the bed, fixing her clothing as she did so. She had chosen a nice pair of white shorts and a blue tank top, the normal attire that one could see her in during warm weather.
The need to get out took over and she made her way out of her room and down the stairs. Her first thought had been to go to the kitchen and maybe get a glass of juice, but she was sidetracked upon seeing someone in the front garden. It didn’t take her long to realize it was Albus and changed her course, her juice forgotten.
Quietly, Lily stepped out of the house and into the garden, watching her older brother with a amused look on her face. He had been grounded by their father, after getting into a yelling match about something to do with the garden. While Lily hadn’t actually been present, she had managed to hear some of it up in her room, a show of how loud it had been.
“Maybe your supposed to de-gnome it.” Lily said, finally breaking her silence and speaking up as she glance around the garden. It was usually well kept by various members of the family. However, this year it had begun to look rather forgotten. “Either that or weed it.”

Albus was starting to get angry. He hated doing this, but he knew he would get into another fight with his dad about it and he didn't want that. He dug his hand in some dirt and started playing around with it in his hand. That was when he heard his sisters voice. What was she doing, bothering him when he should be working. He turned, the dirt still in his hand and gave her an angry look. "What do you want?" he said angrily. "I'm supposed to be working and I don't recall asking your opinion." He threw some dirt at her. This was unlike him. He usually got along well with his siblings. He was just in a bad mood. He knew he would apologize later, even if he gets into trouble for doing this.

Some one is in a bad mood. Lily thought, her eyes narrowing slightly as she looked at her brother. Why should he decide to dump his frustrations out on her? It wasn’t like she had told him to argue with their father. She had been about to open her mouth to say something along those lines when she realized that he had thrown the pile of dirt in his hands her way.
Instinct took over and she ducked, though not managing to avoid the clump of dirt completely, some of it landing in her hair and on her clothes. Now really annoyed, she straightened up and shook the specks of dirt off of herself, the whole time glaring at her brother.
“You didn’t need to attack me for speaking to you. I was just trying to help.” Lily spat, wondering what had gotten to Albus to make him act in such a way. Granted, he seemed stressed, but the throwing of dirt seemed unlike him, almost like he was a child instead of a older teen.

"But I didn't ask for it," he said. "Why but in if I never asked for it?" Al stood up. "And I'm not doing this." He looked at the garden and saw a gnome stick his head up. He picked more dirt up and threw it at it. The gnome disappeared. He saw another and grabbed the gnomes arm, which had appeared. He spun it around a bit and then threw it, though not far. It landed in thier yard. "So there will probably be another fight tonight. You may not want to be home when it happens."

“Sorry for trying to be nice.” Lily mumbled, fighting the urge to retort back with something else. It was too nice of a day to get into a argument. She watched as Albus stood up, throwing some dirt at one of the many gnomes as he did so. It disappeared only to have another one pop up. That was one of the many things that Lily disliked about gnomes, there were always so many. There could never be just two or three.
“You might want to reconsider that Albus. Dad is not going to be happy at all if he comes home and finds out that you didn’t do your chore. If you want help, I’ll gladly offer it.” Lily said seriously while pulling her hair into ponytail. “But that’s your choice. I’ll most likely be going out tonight so it won’t bother me if you two get into another yelling match.”

"I don't care, Lils," he said. "I don't want to do it and I won't. If you want to do it, go ahead. I'll pay you for it." Yeah, right. He wasn't going to pay her. His money was his own and he wouldn't give it to anyone. "I'll go out now, even if I'm not supposed to. I may not even be here later." Al may go somewhere else and spend the night. Stay there until his dad calmed down and wouldn't yell at him for anything.

“I’m not five anymore. I know that there is no chance that you would pay me.” Lily replied rolling her eyes. She had fallen for that trick once when she was little and soon realized, after having done his chore, that she wasn’t going to get paid. Needless to say, she had gotten very angry and made a reminder to never believe him when he offered money to get out of work. “If you’re not going to do it, I’m not going to help.”
“So…what are your plans for the day?” Lily asked, curious as to what her older brother was going to do that would keep him so busy that he wouldn’t see their father till later.

"Fine, whatever," he said. He really didn't care if it got done and he didn't care what his dad said about it either. "I don't know what I'm going to do," he said, "and frankly I don't care. What are you going to do?" Now he was getting suspicious about her going out later. "And who are you going out with?" He knew that if it was a boy, he would have find out who and scare him off. "What's his name?"

Lily rolled her eyes for what felt like the tenth time in five minuets. Why did Albus have to pick this day to be annoying towards her, first throwing dirt at her and then questioning her about her later plans? It made her wonder if he actually thought that she would tell him. Just the thought made her want to laugh. Lily would have to be a complete idoit to tell her brother.
“You know what? I don’t think I’m going to tell you.” Lily said angrily, turning on her heel and walking back into the house. She knew that she had probably confirmed her brothers suspicion by doing so, but she wasn't in the mood to care.

Al caught up with her. "Fine, don't tell me," Al said, with an attitude. "I will find out and I will hurt the boy if he hurts you, mark my words, Lily Luna." Al never usually called his sister by her middle name, but it just seemed right with his attitude. "Then I won't tell you my plans, but you won't see me tonight and you may not see me the rest of the summer, either." He then walked past her and into the house, planning on leaving.

“Not every boy is a prat.” Lily practically shouted after her brother. “I know it might be hard for you to understand, but there are some guys that are actually nice to girls. I’m not going to go out with some idiot.”
Entering the house, Lily let the back door slam shut, using the inanimate object to release her anger. Why did Albus have to act this way? Lily was old enough to make her own choices in guys and make them correctly. It wasn’t as if she was going to go out with a guy who treated her like some item. She had been about to head to her room, when his other words sunk in and Lily ran to catch up with her brother.
“Albus, what do you mean the whole summer? Why would you stay away for that long? Who would you stay with?”
